Intern A.I. Researcher


TwentyBN is looking for exceptional interns to help shape, develop and validate our world-changing AI technology and make an immediate impact in our research team. In this role, you will be conducting cutting edge deep learning research and shaping the future of video understanding.

Employment Term: Contract employee
Experience: Open to students who have relevant academic experience, specifically in machine learning
Education: Completed or working towards a Bachelor's/Master’s/Ph.D. degree in Computer Science and Machine Learning and/or Artificial Intelligence or related field. Note: candidate must have completed, at minimum, a Bachelor's degree prior to start date
Duration: 8 to 12 months, full-time
Number of available positions: 2
Location: 310 Spadina Avenue, Toronto
Salary range: $46.15 to $48.15 per hour, 37.5 hours per week

What will you be doing?

  • Contribute to ongoing research projects (video question answering, localization of human actions in space and time, transfer learning and others)
  • Run deep learning experiments (neural network trainings, architecture optimization, hyper-parameter tuning, etc.)
  • Present results through blog posts, conferences, journals
  • Deploy trained neural networks in production


Who we are looking for?

  • Completed or working towards a Bachelor's/Master’s/Ph.D. degree in Computer Science, Machine Learning and/or Artificial Intelligence. Note: Candidate must have completed, at minimum, a Bachelor's degree prior to start date
  • Several years of academic experience using Python. You must be familiar enough to quickly adapt to our existing code to be able to adjust it, debug it, and create clean pull requests
  • Solid understanding of deep learning concepts: e.g. convolutional neural networks, recurrent neural networks, LSTMs, backpropagation, dropout, batch normalization
  • Good understanding of one deep learning framework (PyTorch, Tensorflow, Keras) and practical experience utilizing the framework(s)
  • Basic understanding of Git / GitHub
  • Basic understanding of command line tools: ssh, screen / tmux, an editor, shell, etc.
  • Exceptional written and verbal skills with the ability to adapt to different audiences and concisely present/summarize experimental results
  • Strong attention to detail and well organized with a "getting things done" mindset
  • Self-motivated and thrives in a demanding dynamic environment
